Hi Parents,
I hope you had a great weekend! The students worked so hard last week. Please refer to the ABC Countdown to see what activities we have planned for this week! Homework –Please complete the Reading Packet for homework (reading 20 minutes/logging) and all materials attached. Students should focus on Word Sort 32. Students will have a quiz covering these sorts on May 10th. Reading- We will be reviewing folktales from before Georgia Milestones. Students will look at various folktales and discuss the moral of the story and what makes it a folktale. Students will continue to work on their Poetry Projects in class in this week. There will be a test on Friday, May 3rd covering folktales and figurative language. Writing- For the next 6 weeks of school, we will be continuing to review the elements and expectations for narrative, informational, and opinion writing as well as constructive responses. We will also include some creative writing with the different types of writing we’ve studied. Grammar- We will continue to work on reviewing our grammar skills from this year. Social Studies - Our final unit this year is our Economics Unit. In this unit, students will define and give examples of the four types of productive resources: natural (land), human (labor), capital (capital goods) and Entrepreneurship (risk-taking and combining natural, human, and capital resources in an attempt to make a profit). Students will also give examples of interdependence and trade and explain the benefits of voluntary exchange. ( consumers and producers). In addition, students also will be working on describing how goods and services are allocated by price in the marketplace and explain that some goods are made locally, and some elsewhere in the country, and some in other countries. Finally, students will explain the concept of opportunity cost as it relates to making a saving or spending choice. Upcoming dates and reminders: May 3- Family Fun Night
