Hello parents,
We are finishing up our last unit this week. Students will have test on Thursday, May 16th. They were given a review packet to work on to study this week for the test. Please review the unit 6 parent letter attached on the newsletter at the beginning of the unit for more review problems. Thanks!

Hello Parents,
We will continue working on time this week. Students will look at an analog clocks and tell the time. Find the elapsed time knowing the start and end time. Find the end time by knowing the elapsed and start time, and find the end time knowing the start and elapsed time. Students have learned to strategies to do this. Please see the picture below as reference. Students will have a quiz on Wednesday, May 1st covering the content mentioned above. Hello parents, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. This past week we have been working on preparing for the milestones. I am so proud of all of their hard work throughout this year. I know they will do great! Students will not receive any homework this week due to testing. We have started working on our last unit of the year. I have attached the Unit 6 Parent Letter below so you can review what we will be working on. Our focus this unit will be telling time to the minute, measuring time intervals in word problems, and measuring liquid volumes and masses of standard objects.
Hi Parents,
We will spend the week reviewing in preparation of our unit test at the end of the week. Please review at home with your child. They should be bringing home their interactive notebook each night. Thanks! :) Hi Parents,
This week we will continue working on making equivalent fractions using fraction tiles and number lines as strategies. I postponed the quiz that had been scheduled for last week to this Thursday. Students should be bringing home their notebooks to study. Last week we worked with fractions of groups of objects and fractions on a number line.
This week we will begin working with equivalent fractions. Students will find equivalent fractions with shapes, sets of objects, fraction strips, and on with fractions number lines. Attached here please find the link for the family newsletter to Unit 5. https://www.georgiastandards.org/Georgia-Standards/Frameworks/Unit-5-3rd-grade-parent-letter.pdf Hello parents,
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend! Last week we began unit 5 on fractions. Students have learned that a fraction is made of a numerator and a denominator and that each unit fraction is an equal part of a whole. Students have learned to partition shapes into equal parts and label them with the correct fractions. Our focus was on fractions with circles, squares, and rectangles. This week we will review how to partition a whole into equal parts and how to label each unit fraction with a numerator and denominator. We will begin looking at fractions using cubes and tiles as visuals rather than shapes such as squares and circles. Students homework for this short week is to work on iReady math for 30 minutes. Early next week we will have a quiz on the the content covered so far. Students should be bringing home their math notebooks to help prepare. We started unit 5 this week. Unit 5 will cover fractions, fractions on a number line and comparing fractions with the same denominator. For more information please look over the parent letter linked below:
Hello parents! This week we will be reviewing unit 4. Students will take their test Thursday and Friday. This weeks homework is a review packet to help prepare them for their test. Sign and returns will be going home with students on Thursday. I have attached the unit 4 parent letter as an aid to help prepare with your child for the upcoming test. Thank you, have a great week!
Hello Parent! In unit 4, students will be learning about shapes and their attributes, partitioning shapes into equal parts to find unit fractions, relating area to multiplication and addition, using rulers to measure length to the nearest ¼ and ½ inch and using the data to create a line plot, finding the perimeter of polygons, and continuing to work with bar graphs and picture graphs. Last week our focus was on reviewing area and perimeter. Students know that area is found by multiplying length by width. They know that perimeter is the addition of all the side measurements. This week our focus is on angles (right, acute, obtuse, and straight) and polygons. |
