Hi Parents,
I hope you had a great weekend! Please refer to the ABC Countdown to see what activities we have planned for this week! Homework – Last week, our class earned no homework for this week! Sign and Returns- Please return all Sign and Return papers from this year for Dolvin's records. Thank you! Census Forms- Please send back all Census Forms as soon as possible. Our grade books and attendance records will be move to a new system and having accurate information for your child in this system is imperative. These are due back on May 17th. Reading- We will continue to review folktales. Students will look at various folktales and discuss the moral of the story and what makes it a folktale. We will also be reviewing 3rd Grade standards that we have learned throughout the year. Writing- Students will be participating in Genius Hour. They will brainstorm about questions they have or things they wonder about. They will then research these topics. Grammar- We will continue to work on reviewing our grammar standards from this year. Social Studies - Our final unit this year is our Economics Unit. In this unit, students will define and give examples of the four types of productive resources: natural (land), human (labor), capital (capital goods) and Entrepreneurship (risk-taking and combining natural, human, and capital resources in an attempt to make a profit). Students will also give examples of interdependence and trade and explain the benefits of voluntary exchange ( consumers and producers). In addition, students also will be working on describing how goods and services are allocated by price in the marketplace and explain that some goods are made locally, and some elsewhere in the country, and some in other countries. Finally, students will explain the concept of opportunity cost as it relates to making a saving or spending choice. Students will have their economics test on Wednesday, May 15. Upcoming dates and reminders: May 13th- Reading to Kindergarten (bring in children's books to read) May 14th- Bring a stuffed animal (please make sure it is a smaller one) May 17th- STEM Day (please send in empty 2 liter bottles) May 22nd- Class Party May 23rd-Students' LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!
