Hi 3rd Grade Parents! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I can’t believe we are in the last few weeks of school! Please continue to refer to the ABC countdown to see what is planned for the week. Homework – Students were not given a reading packet this week. Students should focus on Word Sort 33. We will take our Spelling Quiz this Friday, the 10th. This will be our last Spelling Quiz of the year! Reading- We will be reviewing folktales from before Georgia Milestones. Students will look at various folktales, fables, and myths. They will be able to determine the moral of the story and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text. Writing- For the last few weeks of school, we will continue to review the elements and expectations for narrative, informational, and opinion writing as well as constructive responses. We will also be working on our creative writing skills. Grammar- We will continue to work on reviewing our grammar skills from this year. Social Studies - Our final unit this year is our Economics Unit. In this unit, students will define and give examples of the four types of productive resources: natural (land), human (labor), capital (capital goods) and Entrepreneurship (risk-taking and combining natural, human, and capital resources in an attempt to make a profit). Students will also give examples of interdependence and trade and explain the benefits of voluntary exchange ( consumers and producers). In addition, students also will be working on describing how goods and services are allocated by price in the marketplace and explain that some goods are made locally, and some elsewhere in the country, and some in other countries. Finally, students will explain the concept of opportunity cost as it relates to making a saving or spending choice. STEM DAY- We are in need of 2 liter bottles for STEM day. We will need 5-6 to bottles. If you have any empty bottles at home you can donate please send them in. Thank you!
