Hello parents, I hope you enjoyed your long weekend! Tuesday (January 22nd) is the 100th day of school!! If your child would like to dress up as if they are 100 years old they may 😊 Spelling- Sort 19, 20, 21. Focus on sort 21 this week. The spelling quiz will beto Friday, January 25th! Reading- We will continue looking at various passages to identify text structures: description, main idea, problem and solution, compare and contrast, cause and effect, and sequencing. This week we will be focusing on problem and solution and cause and effect text structures. Writing- We will continue working on our informational writing pieces where students introduce a topic, develop the topic with facts, definitions, and details, use linking words and phrases to connect ideas within categories of information and provide a concluding statement or section. We will also be reviewing constructive responses from the beginning of the year (TEACH). Please study the informational writing outline that is in your child's writing notebook with him or her. Grammar- We will be going over comparative and superlative adjectives. (comparative: bigger, superlative biggest) Social Studies- We are continuing our unit on Colonial America. Students will be learning about the New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern colonies. At the end of the unit students will be able to describe the physical geography of the colonies, identify key people and their roles in each colony, and give examples of how trade was used. Last week our focus was on the Mid-Atlantic colonies. We will be working on Southern colonies this week. Upcoming dates and reminders:
